Does Self Hypnosis really work, and if so how do I do it?

self hypnosis

I seen an article somewhere where someone said they hypnotized his self before, to quit drinking. I wanted to know how is that possible and how can I hypnotize myself?

Nope, it's a good relaxation technique but nothing more.
Sorry to disappoint you but there is no such thing as hypnosis.

Modern hypnotherapy understands that all hypnosis is essentially self-hypnosis - you convince yourself that you are in "hypnosis" (which is generally defined as a state of heightened suggestability…..)

There is a free course on self-hypnosis available from

Using hypnotherapy to deal with addictive habits is an advanced application of hypnosis. You might be able to do it with self-hypnosis - in general most people wanting to break a habit like drinking would benefit from working with a therapist.

Hope this helps
